This month's theme is "Breaking Tradition." Oaxacan culture is very traditional. Tradition is what has preserved its culture for millennia. But tonight, we invite you to think of a time when you broke the rules and did things differently.

𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗴𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘄𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 — cultural gaffes, hilarious misunderstandings, and experiences that challenged our preconceptions — and 𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙞𝙩 𝙢𝙖𝙙𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙜𝙧𝙤𝙬 𝙖𝙨 𝙖 𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙤𝙣

Whether you come to release the burden of a secret, or just want to hear some 𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙨𝙢𝙚, you’re guaranteed to leave feeling a hell of a lot less guilty for our shared human flaws.

Betrayal comes in many forms. We can be betrayed by others, or we can be the one who betrays. Often, we betray ourselves.

This month, I encourage you to dig deeper and bring stories about when we have been betrayed - and betrayed others - to 𝘸𝘦𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘳𝘦𝘥𝘦𝘮𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯.

You know their name instantly. You thought they were “the one” but for some reason it didn’t work out. And no matter how much time is passed, you will always wonder, “what if?”

The definition of “to have an epiphany” is:

Event Description: On Friday, December 2nd, we close 2022 with the last theme of the year: “The Last Straw.”

For those unfamiliar with the phrase, it means: “the final/last straw (n): the last in a series of bad things that happen to make someone very upset, angry, etc.” 😤

Witnessing the end of another’s life has a profound impact on our own. It forces us to let go, relinquish control, and reckon with our own mortality. It perhaps the most human experience of all.
